Police in Kamwenge district is holding a 27year old man on allegations defiling a five year old child.

Bakari Mugha, the police spokes person for western region identified the suspect as Vicente Akankwasa, a resident of Katibani trading center KakingaParish kamwenge district.

According to police, the incident occurred on June 11, 2011 while at a drinking joint when Akankwasa lured the minor by buying her a piece of cake before engaging her into the act.

He says the mother of the victim was attracted after seeing her daughter bleeding from the genitals.

However medical reports obtained by police reveal that there was actual penetration which confirms defilement.

Bakari called upon parents to be responsible and always monitor the movement of their children.
