The government will recruit over 4000 secondary school teachers in the 2011/2012 fiscal year that starts in July according to the report from the education ministry.
The Minister of Education, Jessica Arupo told the journalists in Kampala that with the inclusion of free A’Level education the number of students is expected to increase prompting an increase in the number of teachers.
The minister says that with the current enrolment in secondary schools more teachers are still needed adding that the logistical factors deter government from recruiting.
Arupo says that the 300 teachers who have just been appointed are like a drop of water in the sea.
She commends the Ministry of Finance for increasing the budget of the education sector saying that most stalled programs in the ministry will be handled.
