African countries have been called to do more to get enough blood for its population of 1 billion people. According to doctor john Baptist of the world health organization on the world blood donation day observed on 14th June.
Doctor John Baptist says blood donation is very important to save lives of the patients suffering from blood diseases like anemia and those related to accidents.
Dr. Baptist said although the numbers of units of blood have increased from 2.2 million in 2004 to 3.8 million in 46 African countries he covers, it is still not enough.
He said there in need to satisfy the needs of patients.
