The government of Uganda has come up with plans to remove the children from the town streets across the country.
Hon. Ronald Kibuule, the new Minister for Youth and Children Affairs has told the journalists that he will institute an investigation team to investigate the circumstance in which the children leave their homes to the streets.
Kibuule says their must be old people involved in lifting those children from their home districts to use them as baits to collect for them money.
The minister says that research has shown that the greatest number of children on the Kampala streets is from Karamoja and he wonders how they travel that long distance.
Kibuule says with this year’s theme “All Together for Action” everyone should take a responsibility to assist these children to leave the streets.
However, the rights activists have asked the government to address the issue of poverty in rural areas since poverty is the main cause of children deserting homes.
