The Court of Appeal has extended hearing of a bail application filed by the former NSSF managing director David Chandi Jamwa to tomorrow.
This has been done for court’s convenience because the judges had gone for a workshop which ended yesterday.
Early this month, Jamwa applied for bail citing among other reasons deteriorating health, claiming that he is suffering from hypertension and needs specialised medical care.
This application came at a time when he already filed an appeal against his conviction and sentence.
The IGG also appealed against Jamwa’s acquittal on the charges of abuse of office.
Both applications are pending before court.
Earlier this year, the Anti-Corruption division of the High Court sentenced Jamwa to 12 years imprisonment after finding him guilty of causing a financial loss of Shs 3 billion to NSSF when he sold off several NSSF bonds before their maturity dates.
Court also barred him from getting employment in public service for ten years after serving the sentence.
