Kampala Capital City Authority workers have threatened to boycott their offices following a decision made and communicated to them by the City Executive Director Jennifer Musisi.
Recently, Musisi is quoted to have said she was the only legal worker of the city Authority following the Government’s decision to take over the city. She said all other workers will have to apply to be re-appointed to their current or new positions in the restructuring of city authority management.
KCCA workers say they are now scared because they do not know the state and position of their jobs in relation to Musisi’s statement.
In a bid to address their grievances, they have organized a conference at city hall on the 22nd of this month during which they will meet Government officials to address their concerns.
Ssebwaato Mathias, the Assistant workers Officer at the Authority, they are to meet the minister for workers, trade Unions and Members of Parliament for workers to address their issues.
He also says they want the Authority to pay their salaries before they are laid off from their jobs due to the expected changes.
Ssebwaato also notes that they may opt to cease working if the authority does not tell them the state of their jobs.
