A team of UPDF field Engineers led by Lt Col Fred Karara who is the Inspector General of military Equipment together with the National Focal Point person on small Arms and Light weapons Commissioner of the Uganda police, Ahamed Wafuba has successfully ended a demolition exercise in Karamoja sub region.
During the one week long exercise Karamoja was declared a no fly zone by the commander of Land Forces, Lt General Edward Katumba Wamala which has been now lifted.
The exercise was also supervised by the 3rd Division commander Brig Burundi Nyamunywanisa, according to the army spokesperson of the 3rd division, Captain Deo Akiiki.
Akiiki says the army carried out the exercise because it wanted to eliminate reserve stock or old stock of explosives within its armories.
He also says it was the best way to eliminate explosive remnants of war, it wanted to eliminate damaged stock pile and as a method of eliminating all rejects from different UPDF Units.

Captain Akiiki says the exercise was a success in all the two sites of Kotein in Kotido and Romario in Moroto with no any accidents reported.
