Fort portal pastor accused of conning followers through fake financial institution

Police in fort portal is hunting for a born again church  pastor for allegedly running a fake  micro finance institution  which he used to con people of millions of money.

It is alleged that Atugonza Cirus Mufumu, the pastor at Internal church of God Rwengoma has been running covenant micro finance on Magambo I street in fort portal municipality as director for several months, but clients have been doubting his services day by day.

Trouble began when Atugonza started issuing bouncing cheques to his clients to get money from different Banking institutions only for the members to receive warnings.

This morning over 50 customers stormed his the office demanding their saving, which prompted the local council Louncil 1 of the Area Mugisa Jusi call police.

The manager of the pasto’s SACCO, Frank Kyonmuhendo and the cashier Sharon Kababiito were arrested and detained at bas park police station to aid investigations.

Among the victims are Kasusu united group which claims a deposit of 1.8milion with the pastor.
