A one Fred Sempijja has told court that he helped his boss Thomas Nkurungira alias Tonku to carry the dead body of Brenda Karumuzi from the house to a septic tank.
Sempijja has told court that on 22nd January last year, Tonku went back home at 3:00am and sent him for cigarettes. On coming back, Tonku asked him to close all the windows of the house and re-arrange the cushions in the long seat.
He said as he arranged the cushions, he saw a dead body of Karamuzi wrapped in a red bed sheet inside the cushions. Sempijja further testified that Tonku switched off the security lights in front of the house and asked him to help him lift the body to the septic tank.
He added that later Tonku hid the three bags of the deceased containing her clothes in ceiling.
Sempijja said he never revealed this to anybody since Tonku had promised him one million shillings in addition to the six months salary Nkurungira owed him.
Justice Rugadya Atwooki has adjourned the case to next Tuesday for submissions.
Prosecution alleges that between 22nd and 30th January 2010, Tonku and Sempijja murdered Karamuzi. Her body recovered on 30th from a septic tank near a house Tonku rented in Bukasa, Muyenga in Makindye division.
Karamuzi was Tonku’s girl friend.
John Patrick Barenzi represented Tonku, Jane Nakakande appeared for Sempijja while Joan Kagezi represented prosecution.
