Ministry of Education to ensure schools have lightening conducts

The minister of education Jessica Alupo has presented a statement in parliament explaining what the ministry was doing to avert the lightning from striking schools.

Alupo told parliament this afternoon that the ministry is planning a comprehensive inspection for all government schools across the country to ensure that they have lightening conductors.

Alupo said that her ministry had earlier directed all local governments to provide the lightning conductors in all schools her team will ascertain whether they were installed and that they function.

Alupo says that after the inspection, all local governments will be required to put the lightening arrestors in those schools which don’t have and replace those who have lost productivity. Track

Meanwhile MPs who are scientists have advised government to come up with a policy were all pupils and students in schools should put on either shoes or sandals before they go to school.

Mbarara municipality mp Dr Bitekyerezo Medard told parliament that all the children who died due to lightning wouldn’t have died if they were putting on shoes because they are not good conductors of electricity.
