The Kampala City Council Councilors Forum has written to President Yoweri Museveni, seeking his intervention in the running of affairs and management of the authority.
In a petition delivered to the Minister in charge of the Presidency, Kabakumba Masiko this afternoon, the councilors led by Kisenyi LC 3 chairman, Salim Uhuru, claim that their services as councilors are no longer relevant in the new setting of Kampala city as all the activities and services are centralized in the office of the Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi Semakula.
Uhuru explains that the actions of the Executive Director to run affairs alone contravene the decentralization system which was initiated by the government and service delivery cannot be implemented by one person.
He reveals that the councilors have resolved to walk to State House and meet the President, as well as mobilize the electorate in different parts of the city to boycott all council activities and abandon authority sittings until further notice.
The councilors have in recent weeks clashed with Ms. Musisi over wages, which they want increased; however the latter rejected their pleas.
