The National Patriotism drive launched one and half years ago by President Yoweri Museveni is taking root amongst Ugandans.
Teachers from Eastern region district of great Tororo and Elgon who were attending a workshop organized by the national secretariat for patriotism club in the office of the President, noted that the drive will enable Ugandan’s develop love and pride for their nation and focus on core issues to help it transform.
This workshop brought together teachers of post primary schools in the 11 districts of Eastern Uganda. The head of the secretariat Lieutenant Colonel Henry Masika reiterate the importance of a teacher is a central pillar in preparing the Youth to become patriots.
He told teachers that they are major agents of change in the country. He assured the teachers about the government commitment to address their concerns and also assured them of the secretariat cooperation material and moral support in entrenching patriotism in schools.
The resident district of Mbale Paul Nangoli re-assured teachers commitment to addressing their motivation saying several schools in the region have been earmarked for renovation.
Resident district commissioners of Palisa, Tororo, Busia, Butaleja, Manafa and Bududa also attended the workshop which was held in Bukedi College Kachonga Palisa secondary and Mbale secondary bringing together a total of 1500 teachers.
