Government urged to improve working conditions of teachers

The government has been called upon to improve the salaries of teachers and provide them with better working conditions.

The Woman Member of Parliament for Kabalore district Victoria Businge Rusoke has observed that a comfortable teacher does excellent work at school.

Rusoke made these remarks while addressing parents and pupils of canon Appolo demonstration school in Bukuku sub-county Kabalore district during the official opening of the teacher’s houses.

She asked parents to always endeavour to support their teachers to work in comfortable and conducive environment so that they can improve their performance.

Miss Carmel one of the school’s donor said that she was sorry for the poor working conditions of teachers in Uganda which prompted her to lobby funds for the schools from the Irish national teachers’ organization.

The chairperson local council five (LCV) Kabalore district Richard Rwabuhinga noted that the school was in dare need for pit latrines and promised to mobilize funds for the construction of pit latrine.

Rwabuhinga donated 20 desks to the school while woman M.P gave them 25o, 000 shillings for buying sand for plastering teacher’s houses.
