Police in fort portal are holding a man in his late 40s on charges of inciting violence and assaulting a police officer on duty.
The police have identified the suspect as Musoka Kilodo a resident of Kitembe in Karambi sub county Kabarole district.
Kilodo a land lord of over 80 housing units in Kitembe was arrested by Karambi sub county leaders for mobilizing his over 200 tenants to go against their resolution of closing the housing units due to poor hygiene and encroaching wetlands.
According to Mashuhuko Joseph, the Karambi sub county district representative, the tenants went on rampage and attempted to beat up the sub county authorities that had gone to enforce the district ordinance of taking legal action when the hygiene of the area is doubted.
Mashuhuko explains that on Kilodo attempted to disarm a police officer in uniform who had gone to arrest him.
Inspector Bwambale Jazmine the acting Kabarole district CID officer says Kilodo will be produced in court to answer charges of inciting violence and assaulting a police officer on duty.
