Reproductive health Uganda and the catholic church in Hoima have expressed different pinions over artificial methods of family planning.
While reproductive health promotes the use of artificial and natural family planning methods, the Catholic Church is opposed to the artificial methods.
Hoima catholic diocese has launched a campaign to promote natural family planning methods. The campaign was launched last Sunday at Kasomoro Catholic church in Kyabigambire sub-county Hoima district.
The vicar general Hoima catholic diocese Rev. Fr. Matthias Nayakatura says the campaign has just began with Bujumbura parish but will be rolled out a cross the diocese.
Nyakatura says artificial methods are associated with a number of problems such as giving birth to deformed children, complicated diseases, complicated delivery, killing of eggs (ovary) and sometimes death of the person using drugs.
However, the service Manager at reproductive health Uganda, Hoima branch Christine Oseku accuses the catholic church of attacking the artificial methods noting that this brings to a wrong perception to those using the government promoted family planning methods.
Oseku tasked the Catholic Church to provide evidence of negative impacts they have seen with the artificial methods of family planning.
