Fifteen witnesses who had mysteriously disappeared have today shown up in court to pin former Vice President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya on election malpractices he allegedly committed during the February polls in Busiro North.
Justice Kibuuka Musoke of the Kampala High court is now continuing with the hearing of the matter through to Friday.
Kasta Hussein Bukenya, who lost the election, sued Prof. Bukenya and the EC claiming the elections were conducted in contravention of the law.
Kasta contends that Prof. Bukenya committed such offences of bribery, intimidation, and harassment among others.
Kasta blames the EC for failing to respond to such irregularities in addition to omitting his name from the ballot papers.
He wants court to nullify Prof. Bukenya’s victory and compel the EC to conduct fresh elections.
Prof. Bukenya won with 7,382 votes while Kasta polled 4, 953.
