The Opposition Democratic Party has vowed to put up a spirited fight against the scrapping of the constitutionally mandated bail.
The deputy spokesperson Keneth Paul Kakande says the Party is ready to ensure that the constitutional bail is not scrapped by Parliament as proposed by President Yoweri Museveni.
Kakande says bail is a fundamental human right guaranteed by the constitution and should not be limited by anyone.
The NRM MPs are meeting the President who is reportedly convincing them of the need to remove the bail for some offenses, making it possible to hold some people for up to six months without trial.
The President has argued that some crimes such as rape, economic sabotage and others should not be bailable until such a time as may be determined by the law.
Kakande says the proposal is against the basic human rights and they are in bad spirit because they target opposition politicians deterring them from talking about problems affecting their people.
