Parents in Kamwenge district have expressed concern over the daily increasing number of school dropout in most schools in the district.
In a recent survey realized by the Kamwenge district inspector of schools Akorinako Julius, the rate of school dropouts increased from 22% to 26%.
The survey indicates that the dropout is higher in primary schools than secondary schools.
Angabirano Bashir a resident of Nyanchwamba in Kamwenge town council blames district leaders who have failed to mobilize and sensitize the mass to develop a positive attitude towards education.
He observes that the district may not achieve if the area leaders fail to address the problem.
Barigye Jackson a resident of Kamwenge town says the dropouts are posing a security threat in the area since most of them are unemployed and hate domestic work.
However the District Inspector Of schools Kamwenge Akorinako Julius, urges parents to play their roles fully in a child’s upbringing and to report children who abandon school to relevant authorities.
