Karambi sub county authorities in Kabarole district and police have arrested one Kyamanywa Rose for marrying off her 14 year old daughter a pupil at Mukumbwe primary school.

Joseph Kiiza Mashuhuko the Karambi sub county district representative says Kyamanywa was arrested after the sub county authorities mounted a search for the primary 4 pupil after reports from the school head teacher that she had been married off.

Mashuhuko explains that the search yielded fruits in Friday night when a team from the sub county backed by police ambushed the house of one Ndungushe Justus following a tip off from local residents.

On interrogation, Ndungushe who is also under police custody revealed that the mother of the 14 year old girl was aware of their marriage.

However Kyamanywa the mother of the victim told police that her daughter had disappeared from a month ago without her knowledge.

Mashuhuko says the sub county has embarked on a go back to school campaign to arrest and charge parents that contribute towards the school dropout in the district.
