The female politicians in Uganda have been advised to play their leadership roles without compromising their family responsibilities.
The former Ethics and Integrity Minister and founding member of Centre for Women in Governance, Maria Matembe said this while addressing district women councillors from the districts of Isingiro, Ibanda, Mbarara, Ssema at Miliva guest house in Mbarara.
Matembe said being in leadership, women should remain supportive to their husbands not to allow their families to breakup because of politics which a seasonal affair.
She also urged the women to display high level of integrity in their councils by shunning among other issues corruption and immoral acts.
The Mbarara Resident District Commissioner Clement Kandole, who officiated the opening of a three-day workshop challenged the women to use their big population numbers to excel in social, political and economic aspects of life.
The workshop is intended to train and build women in leadership to effectively participate at all levels of division making and governance.
