Democratic Party legal counsel, Fred Mukasa Mbide has come out boldly to speak on yesterday’s high court ruling saying the ruling was not made against the current DP leadership as claimed by the applicants.
Addressing a news conference at the party headquarters in Kampala today, Mbide reveals that those who went to court were after making money which he says will not be paid to them since the current DP leaders are not the ones who were being sued.
Mbide also emphasizes that the current party leadership was elected by the national delegates’ conference which has full powers to elect members for any top most post in the party.
He again pins Sam Walter Lubega for having a number of cases to answer with police which include impersonation, obtaining money by false pretense among others.
This follows yesterday’s dismissal of a constitutional court petition which challenged an earlier High Court ruling that had declared the Mbale delegates conference that elected DP President Mao and other DP leaders illegal.
