The Serere district Woman Member of Parliament Alice Alaso is advising government to scrap government sponsorship in Public Institutions citing abuse of the of the Programme.

Alaso says the program is mostly benefiting the rich families who can be able to pay for their children at any Institution of higher learning.

Alaso told the Social Services Committee of Parliament said government should instead introduce the Loan Scheme that will benefit students who cannot afford to pay for themselves so that there able to complete their studies.

She says that sponsoring a small portion of students its discrimination of the highest order when the same funds can be distributed differently to benefit all Ugandans.
