The government of Uganda has said it is soon going to start posting medical doctors at each health centre IV across the country in a bid to solve the current problem of shortage of doctors.
The health minister Dr. Androa Christine says they are currently working on the policy that will see the problem of shortage of health workers addressed comprehensively.
Under the new policy, doctors on internship will be asked to serve for two years in health centres IV and in turn be sponsored to upgrade. She says the move intended to retain medical personnel in the country.
Dr. Androa says the ministry of health is currently in talks with the ministry of finance and local government on how best to implement the policy.
Although the government has constructed the health centre IV at each sub-county across the country the facilities lack qualified personnel to render services to the population.
