The commission of inquiry into the mismanagement of the Uganda wildlife Authority funds under the PAMUSU project has alleged that some officials in the ministry are obstructing its progress because they are heavily implicated in the mismanagement of public funds.
The money in question is 38 million US dollar loan from the World Bank to improve the reconstruct and demarcate twelve (12) national parks and national reserves in the country.
Addressing the press in conference at Uganda wildlife authority head office, the commission chairman Justice George Kanyaihamba queried the officials who had earlier refused to release files that would help in the investigations.
Justice Kanyaihamba further explained that the commission is challenged by the notice from the ministry of tourism and wildlife instructing them to windup the work by the end of this month.
Kanyaihamba says they have appealed to the ministry seeking for another three months to complete the investigation.
He also disclosed that the commission has not been paid their allowances for the last two months but said this will not deter them from executing their dues as assigned to them.
