The long standing injury threats to Tanzania-based Uganda Cranes defender Joseph Owino have finally made Simba SC release him to rivals Azam FC.
The 27-year-old defender who has endured an injury-plagued career agreed to several terms with Azam among which is meeting the costs of an operation in India.
Owino says he decided to move because Azam has promised to fly him to India to seek better medical attention to help him reclaim his soccer proficiency.
Owino joined Simba 3 years ago from URA FC but a career threatening injury in 2008 during the CECAFA tournament in Kampala pushed him to the sidelines for most of the subsequent seasons.
He has since un-successfully attempted many comebacks for the club and national team and was recently dropped by national coach Bobby Williamson due to the same injury problem.
