Hardly a week when a fierce catastrophe killed people and destroyed property in Bulambuli district, Masaka district authorities are pondering how to feed residents after a heavy storm hit villages killing live stock, birds and destroying gardens and buildings.
Masaka district woman MP Freda Mubanda says over 200 families are now stranded without food and accommodation, a situation that requires government’s immediate intervention.
Addressing journalists at parliament, Mubanda appealed to the ministry of disaster preparedness to quickly come to the affected people’s rescue by providing maize flour and beans to feed the people she said are sleeping on empty stomachs.
Mubanda also appealed to government to buy fast maturing seeds for the affected families also that people can be able to harvest own food crops in the next four months.
