The Anti-Corruption Court has summoned the Chief Executive Officer and Directors of Motor Care Uganda Limited to take plea in a case where the company is accused of alleged connivance to supply cars during CHOGM in 2007.
Before the summons were issued, the former vice president Prof Gilbert Bukenya took plea on the second file of the charges of abuse of office and fraudulent practice. Court ruled that Bukenya was rightly charged with Motor Care Uganda Ltd.
He pleaded not guilty, like he did in the first charges of abuse of office.
Court has also granted Bukenya bail on the second charges, under the same conditions like the first ones.
Motor Care Uganda Ltd officials have been summoned to take plea on 3rd October 2011; the same day hearing of the first case against Bukenya is to start.
Bukenya is accused along Motor Care Uganda Ltd for allegedly influencing and directing the award of a contract to that company to supply 80 BMW vehicles used to transport heads of state during CHOGM.
Prosecution says investigations in all cases are complete.
Bukenya failed to block his trial.
He is facing alleged charges of abuse of office and fraudulent practice in relation to CHOGM held in Kampala in 2007.
