Woman accused of murdering her husband over vehicle

Hearing of a case in which one Helen Nayiga is accused of murder of her longtime boyfriend Robert Nangira has kicked off before the Kampala high court.

Nayiga is accused along with Private Vincent Kamau, Moses Olinga, and others still at large.

David Muhumuza, a detective attached to CID headquarters has told court that on 24th July 2009, he and other officers together with Kamau moved to Katugo forest in Nakasongola district where they recovered a body of Nangira that has started to decompose.

The body is alleged to have had multiple cuts and head injuries, while the left arm had been chopped off. A panga was also found close to the body.

Muhumuza said Kamau led them to the forest after his confession at the Police.

Kamau told Police that they kidnapped Nangira from his residence at Kansanga following Nayiga’s request after the couple had misunderstandings and Nayiga wanted to look out for a way of enjoying Nangira’s vehicle.

He also told Police that after killing the victim, they chopped off his right arm as proof to Nayiga that they had accomplished their mission, which was done at a cost of one million shillings.

Prosecution alleges that the suspects committed the offence on the 21/7/2009 at Kanana village in Nakasongola district, and also robbed Nangira’s vehicle.
