The Kasese district Pensioners cooperative savings and credit society Limited has received a 14.4 million shillings grant from the Belgium technical cooperation (BTC) through the District poverty reduction program.
Handing over the Cheque to the SACCO administration at their head office located along Kilembe road in Kasese Municipality yesterday, the District chairperson Lt. Col. Mawa Muhindo commended the work well done by the cooperative adding that they were role models to the entire Kasese community.
The chairman pledged his close working relationship towards the development of the cooperative and encouraged them enroll more members on Board.
He encouraged members to use the fund as a tool that will help them improve their household incomes.
He commended the Government of Belgium through BTC for a recommendable work in the district especially in the social economic sector, capacity building, and construction of infrastructures like roads, schools, markets, and bridges among other investments.
The Mayor Kasese Municipality His worship Kabyanga Godfrey who also witnessed the official handover of the cheque pledged to supervise and monitor the implementation of the project to make sure that the money is put to its anticipated use.
Kabyanga promised to link the cooperative to other development partners for assistance since it is among the organized pensioners Cooperative in the country.
The secretary Manager for the cooperative John Bosco Muhindo said that the fund will help to finance key investment and expand the operations of the cooperative.
