The second Uganda Health Journalism Convention kicks off on Wednesday November 2nd at Hotel Africana in Kampala. According to the organizers, Scientists, Health researchers and journalist will discuss different topics aimed at improving reporting and communication of health issues and concerns.
“This year’s conference will use the concept of professionalism in health journalism as a framework for exploring a wide range of issues, such as how researchers can communicate their findings and expertise to the media, how the media can fairly and accurately convey these messages, and how professionalism on both sides would benefit the public,” reads a statement signed by conference Chairperson, Esther Nakazzi.
The Convention will open with a keynote address from Prof. Nelson Sewankambo, Principal, Makerere University College of Health Sciences. He will deliver a paper titled What is professionalism in health communication? How can it be achieved, and what are the benefits?
A cross section of senior scientists, health journalists and researchers will present on different topics during the three day convention that will be closed by the Minister of health, DFr. Christine Ondoa on Friday November 3rd 2011.
