It seems most of the political parties in Uganda are currently designing measures of how they can mobilize funds from donors and members. After NRM, CP, Jeema have asked their respective party members and supporters to fundraise funds towards the daily management of their parties, the Democratic Party (DP) has also jumped on the queue.
The secretary general of DP Matthias Nsubuga and the DP President General Norbert Mao have reportedly asked all MPs, LC3 chairpersons, LC5 chairpersons, and LC5 and LC3 councilors to contribute money to run the party on monthly basis. DP has few members in Parliament but it is proud to have majority of LC3 and LC5 councils among opposition parties.
Most of the local councils in Uganda are represented by NRM and DP. NRM has the biggest majority of LC3 and LC5 councilors followed by DP. Nsubuga says that DP will punish any of its members holding a political post who will not contribute 8% of his or her monthly allowances and salaries to the party head offices.
