World Bank organises course on management of land acquisition

 

The Government of Uganda working together with Uganda martyrs University and BRAC Development Institute, Bangladesh with support from the World Bank have organised a training course on management of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation between April 30th and May 4th 2012 at Colin Hotel Mukono.

The five day course will target individuals, companies, and civil society organisations interested and or involved in land acquisition related activities. We have been told that only 30 slots will be available and admission will be made on first come first served basis. The training fee is $700 per participant and includes room and board, and training materials. After the training, the participants will be awarded certificates on satisfactory completion of the course.

Every year hundreds of Ugandans experience loss of land and other assets and or displacements to development projects. Land acquisition when not handled well posses serious hardships and impoverishment risks like landlessness, loss of livelihoods. There fore the course participants will get knowledge and skills to undertake and manage land acquisition related activities.
