Huge heaps of banned, unregistered and expired drugs are on sale in most of the East African countries of Uganda, Kenya,Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi.
Some of the drugs sold in East Africa were recently banned by the World Health Organisation (WHO). They include fake ARVs, paracetamol, fake quinine tablets, fake quinine syrups and postinor.
The executive secretary of National Drug Authority, Gordon Katende says that some of the expired drugs imported intoUganda are from Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Southern Sudan.
Last week the government of Uganda arrested three people for allegedly selling drugs that were phased out by the World Health Organisation.
