Makerere University acting Vice Chancellor Venansius Baryamureeba is to lose his title of ‘professor’ and we hear he is pleading with Makerere University council members to save him.

The development follows allegations that Baryamureba falsified his academic profile and submitted plagiarised work to get promoted to full Professor.

The director for Graduate Studies at Makerere University, Prof. Eli Rwakishaya-Katunguka recently wrote to the Makerere University Council chairman Wana-Etyem requesting him to strip Prof.  Baryamureeba of the title of Professor. Prof. Katunguka also submitted that an investigation be carried out to find out Baryamureeba got promoted to Associate Professor and later to full Professor.

Prof. Katunguka alleges that prof. Baryamureba has never supervised PhD students as he claims in his CV because there is no record to show he was assigned.
