Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) members have got 800 million shillings from the party members in the diaspora. The sources in UPC have told our news desk that it is going to be used to petition the high court asking it to direct Otunnu to call the UPC delegates conference.
We hear Otunnu has been declining to call the delegates conference because he fears the party members might pass a motion to remove him. The UPC National Council recently requested Otunnu to call the party’s delegates conference and he refused.
A source in the party has told us that the leaders of UPC have collected signatures they intend to use while backing their petition in the high court.
The UPC constitution provides that the delegates’ conference is the supreme organ of the Uganda Peoples Congress with powers to elect a new party president, make reviews and rescinds decisions taken by any party organ.
