The hunter has become the hunted. The MP for Lubaga South and the president general of the Conservative Party (CP) John Ken Lukyamuzi is being probed reportedly for mismanaging 12 million Uganda shillings that was meant to run his party activities.
Lukyamuzi is among the few Uganda MPs fighting against graft in Uganda’s ruling party, the National Resistance Movement.
The CP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) suspended Lukyamuzi last week and ordered him to return all the CP property in his possession. Lukyamuzi will be reinstated as the CP president general only if his party’s NEC happens to find him not guilty of the ‘offence.’
The CP National Vice Chairperson, Fredrick Lubowa confirms that Lukyamuzi is being probed and was suspended over reported embezzlement of the party’s funds. Lubowa says that the controversial money was to pay for the party offices at Raja Chambers in Kampala and to run other party activities.
