Security experts in Kampala such as the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence, External Security Organisation and CID are to meet next week to discuss ways of fighting increasing internet crime going on in Uganda.
The security chiefs will be targeting to seal loopholes fraudsters use to carry out various incidences of fraud, and threats facing Uganda’s financial sector.
A source in security circles in Kampala told this informer that cases of technology related crime through internet and bank fraud threats in Uganda need to be checked before they collapse the country’s economy.
So the security organs will meet at Speke Resort Beach Munyonyo next week to brainstorm on combating financial crime by mobilizing people to work with the security in fighting financial crime.
A source further told us that there are high cases of fraud which involved use of stolen credit cards in the purchase of items from online shops for goods destined to Uganda among other East African countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda. Therefore the security meeting to be held next week will discuss ways of curbing use of stolen credit cards in purchasing goods online.
