A number of people in Uganda have been questioning why the findings of the government probe into the death of the former Defence Ministry Permanent Secretary; Brig. Noble Mayombo is not released to the public.
The government probe committee into Mayombo’s death was led by Maj. Gen. James Mugira in 2007. Five years down the road the government late Mayombo served and defended with all his heart and life has not released his death report.
The good news however is that our news desk has got a copy of Mayombo’s death report from an impeccable source in government and we shall keep on reproducing it for you in bits. The report was signed on by Gen. Mugira and it is already before president Museveni.
This senior source in government tells us that like the Francis Ayume, burnt Kasubi tombs report and Late Andrew Kayiira report, the government doesn’t want Mayombo’s report released to the public because it might jeopardise the support the government enjoys among Mayombo’s tribe mates. So while we reproduce it, be aware that the government agents would seize you if they find you discussing the report in a public place. Late Brig. Mayombo’s family was also not given a copy of death report.
The report cites conspiracy as the major factor that led to Mayombo’s death. In one of the paragraphs of the report, it is started that some people felt unhappy about Mayombo’s progress in the ruling NRM and in the army so someone whose name begins with letter ‘A’ was suspected to be behind his death. However President Museveni rules out the conspiracy theory in Mayombo’s death. The report also indicates that Mayombo consumed an improper food that led to failure of his pancreas after a short illness and he died in Nairobi, Kenya.
Other members on Mayombo’s death probe committee included Dr. Peter Mugenyi, the director of the Joint Clinical Research Centre and army biochemist Capt. Tagaswire Rusoke. More details to follows soon!
