President Museveni has asked the Supreme Mufti of the breakaway Muslim faction based at Kibuli mosque, Sheikh Zubair Kayongo and the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Mubajje to resolve their leadership wrangles and conflicts.
The prevailing leadership wrangles and conflicts between Mubajje and Kayongo have rocked the Muslim community in Uganda for the last three years.
Museveni says that Mubajje and Kayongo should work towards uniting the Muslim community in Uganda for the sake of the Islamic growth and development of Uganda.
The President said this at a dinning table he hosted for Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje Supreme Mufti, Zubairi Kayongo at his upcountry home in Kirihuura district, western Uganda.
Museveni says that the government is very concerned about the differences and wrangles between Mubajje faction and Kayongo Muslim faction.
Museveni says that the rivalry between Kayogo and Mubajje has negatively affected the ordinary Muslims in Uganda.
