Uses of carrots to people

Carrots have a number of uses in the bodies of human beings. For example beta-carotene, a component of carrots, serves as an antioxidant which helps the body to fight cell damage.

Human doctors say that regular consumption of carrots helps to slow down ageing. Carrots contain about 3% of vegetable fibre, most of which is in form of pectin, a complex carbohydrate found in cell walls of plants.

The pectin found in carrots is also equally useful, especially for people with irritable bowel syndrome. The carrots have soluble fibre which helps lower blood cholesterol levels thus lowering risks of heart diseases.

Carrots can be eaten raw or blended to extract juice. They can also be crushed and combined with other fruits for example passion fruits; pineapple, oranges, lemons and apples to mention but a few to add colour to the juice made out of these fruits.
