Yams are low in fats and high on calories. Yams should be incorporated in one’s diet because they have tremendous health benefits.
The yams are rich in minerals including iron, copper, potassium, manganese and phosphorus. Our bodies need these minerals to build strong bones and teeth.
Minerals help the body to grow, develop and stay healthy. Potassium helps regulate the heart function and blood pressure, while iron aids in the production of red blood cells.
Manganese and iron on the other hand aid the formation of Red blood cells. Yams are also a rich source of plant estrogens called phyto-oestrogens which have the moderating effect which is good for menopausal women and women who aren’t having regular periods or are bleeding heavily. Yams contain complex carbohydrates which provide energy.
