We have heard shocking information that a group of 10 girls have been arrested by the police in Kampala over their reported refusal to fall in love with some police officers. The girls were arrested on Monday last week.
On Tuesday, a group of opposition activists went to see the DPC of the Central police station (CPS) in Kampala (Mr Ruhweza).
The opposition activists were checking on these 10 young girls that had been detained for over a week without being produced to any court.
The girls under detention told opposition activists that only one of them had been given the opportunity to notify her family members of her whereabouts.
Unfortunately, Ruhweza was not interested in giving these girls a police bond. The opposition activists from FDC and the Democratic Party (DP Uganda) informed Ruhweza that they would take the matter to the public and together and Ruhweza kept quiet.
On Friday another group of concerned Ugandans returned to CPS to demand for answers why the girls were being detained illegally at the police. We have heard that the police have gone ahead to detain some of the people who had gone to demand for the release of these girls. Efforts to get a comment from the police spokesman, Asuman Mugyenyi were futile.
