NRM and FDC sat on opposition parties for 10 years

Recently Sir Alex Furgerson (football coach) termed the end of Premier Competition as a squeaky “bum” time! Let us compare this statement to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) system of electingUganda’s members to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) that has been developed in hurry and at the last minute.

Opposition parties inUgandaparliament, that is the Democratic Party (DP), Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC), Conservative Party (CP), Justice Forum (Jeema), and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) were set to fill candidates for the three remaining slots! FDC and all opposition parties inUganda’s opposition politics sought Boycott! Other members played their cards well or betrayed each other! At the last hour; UPC, CP and DP nominated their candidates! It was the past nomination time. Technically FDC is out if the nomination exercise is not reversed.

The legal advisor of DP, Mukasa Fred Mbidde asked FDC when it accused DP of betrayal. “Is it bad for DP, CP and UPC to represent FDC in EALA?” FDC and NRM sat on other opposition parties inUgandafor 10 years not until Mbidde’s victory in the East African Court of Justice over NRM and FDC! Mbidde is a charismatic man and a sharp lawyer.
