Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Venansious Baryamureeba has been put on defencive by critics and he is now fighting for mere survival.

His critics demand that he resigns his post before he seeks reelection as Vice Chancellor. But Baryamureeba says “if they want me to resign my position, they should first of all do so because they are all members of Makerere University staff “.

However Baryamureeba’s politicking of president Museveni’s style is sometimes really disgusting. His argument above is typical of the kind of arguments that take place everyday between uneducated and moderately educated people on streets during their regular fights on whether Man U is better than Arsenal, etc. Many leaders

It is obvious that Baryamureeba emotionally made this statement without much thinking! The people are asking Baryamureeba to resign because his office impacts the Vice Chancellor search process (directly or indirectly), although his supporters may try to deny this.

Other candidates vying for the post of Vice Chancellor are based at their local faculties, and do not have any direct bearing on the process and so they don’t need to resign.
