Otago Doctoral Scholarship: Doctoral students enrolling for the first time at a New Zealand university are eligible to pay tuition fees at the New Zealand domestic level, and are eligible for University of Otago doctoral-level scholarships.
The University of Otago Postgraduate Scholarships are awarded to doctoral candidates on the basis of academic merit, research ability and suitability within the department.
They provide an emolument of $20,000 per year and a waiver of tuition fees at domestic level for up to 3 years.
Applicants for these scholarships are also automatically considered for the University of Otago Prestigious Scholarship, which provides an emolument of $25,000 per year and a waiver of tuition fees at domestic level for up to 3 years.
Applicants for the PhD and Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degrees can apply for a scholarship at any time throughout the year.
Applicants for other doctoral degrees (the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry and Doctor of Education) can apply in the University’s end-of-year scholarship round.
Applications close on 1 November each year.
