The Democratic Party (DP) candidate, Norbert Mao has castigated the heavy deployment of the police and army in Kasese district ahead of Wednesday’s woman MP by elections.
Mao says that the deployment is meant to intimidate voters who cast their votes in favour of opposition. But he urges the voters in Kasese to follow the example of their counterparts in Luweero, Lwengo, Bushenyi etc and vote in favour of opposition candidates.
There are three candidates in the race namely Winnie Kiiza (FDC), Rehema Muhindo (NRM) and Rosemary Masika (Democratic Party). The seat fell vacant last month after the high court nullified the election victory of FDC’s Winnie Kiiza due to electoral malpractices in the February 2011 polls.
