Over 120 primary school teachers in Namutumba district are to be fired over lack of academic papers.

The affected teachers were discovered during a verification exercise that has been going on in the district for the last two weeks.

The district information officer Soul Waigulo said the teachers in question had papers indicating that they had obtained grade three teaching certificates but the service commission was not convinced prompting it to visit the said colleges for approval.

Waigulo said it was discovered that some teachers had never appeared in the college and others had never completed their studies.

He says that the service commission will temporarily suspend the teachers as investigations continue.
