The police have cautioned civil society organizations against holding protests without seeking police permission.
Kampala metropolitan commandant, Andrew Felix Kaweesi says that though the group has a genuine cause, it has to seek permission for guidance and protection.
This follows a foiled demonstration by anti corruption activists over recent reports of increasing embezzlement of public funds.
Kaweesi says that police had to block the protests at UMA grounds today because the organizers did not inform police.
Meanwhile Religious leaders have urged donors to explore other avenues for channeling aid other than government institutions.
Addressing journalists today, acting chairperson Inter-Religious Council Sheikh Ali- Mohammed Waiswa said that the cutting of aid will only worsen the condition of the intended beneficiaries in Karamoja and Northern Uganda.
Waiswa proposes that the funds are channeled through religious institutions and civil society organizations which are more accountable.
Norway, Denmark, Ireland and UK have so far cut aid, over concerns of wide spread corruption, especially in the Prime Minister’s office.
