The National Curriculum Development center says it has not yet decided on which local languages will be included in the new school curriculum for lower secondary education.
The Deputy Director of the center Grace Baguma says consultations will go on for the next 6 months before a decision is made.
Recent media reports indicated that the National curriculum center had abolished teaching of local languages.
Baguma says the reports are false and asked the concerned stakeholders to remain calm as consultations on the issue continues.
She says constitutionally there 65 Languages in the country and the challenge is to decide on which particular languages should be considered.
