The Uganda National Examinations Board has refuted allegations that it lacks funds to facilitate the marking of examinations scripts.
Media reports indicated this week that the lack of the funds could lead to the delayed release of the exam results for this year’s exams.
However, addressing the media this morning, the board secretary Matthew Bukenya rubbished the reports as mere baseless rumours saying the government has released enough money to cover the entire examinations exercise.
He said the government through the ministry of education released 18.5bn shillings between the 8th and 21st November this year.
Bukenya says 80% of the money has been sent to the marking centers and that the teachers are fully facilitated and are already stationed at the centers for marking.
Bukenya adds that the money is meant to cover accommodation and facilitation for the teachers, marking fees, processing of results and purchase of marking material.
